Configuring Zea Sync

The Zea Sync is a desktop (Windows) application that synchronizes 3D CAD files between a local file folder on your hard drive or server and the CAD Files module in Zea's web application.

It securely processes your organization’s native 3D CAD files into a highly optimized web format. This step removes all the intellectual property associated with the native files, such as product manufacturing information (PMI) and metadata, allowing service teams to visualize the resulting 3D files on the web without leaking any trade secrets

⚠️ ONCE YOU SELECT A FOLDER AND A WORKSPACE TO SYNCHRONIZE, YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO CHANGE THE FOLDER FOR THAT WORKSPACE.

  1. Download and install the Zea Sync from the Workspace settings.
  2. Launch
    1. Check your spam folder if you don't see the sign-in email from Zea.
  3. Select
    1. Click on CAD Files
  4. Click the gear in the top right-hand corner

    1. Create Workspace in the web application if you don't see any in the Zea Sync.
    2. If you selected the wrong folder, delete that workspace and start over.

    3. If you know your CAD model's Up Direction, you can set it now. If you don't adjust it later if your model renders sideways.

    4. Close the Zea Sync Settings

  5. Click the Synchronize button in the top right-hand corner.

All done! In your workspace, you can find the synchronized files in the 3D Models module.

You can close the Zea Sync and work on the web application. You'll need to Synchronize the files again from the Zea Sync after any engineering changes.
