Overview
The Zea Platform utilizes a powerful, proprietary 3D renderer called the Zea Engine which allows massive 3D CAD models to be rendered straight from the browser. Most modern PCs and tablets should have no issues handling even your largest models (Learn more
If you are experiencing slower than expected model loading or rendering performance, please follow these instructions to troubleshoot.
Troubleshooting slow/lagging 3D rendering
If your application does not perform as well as you expect, it may be running with the wrong GPU. Most laptops (and some desktop computers) have more than one GPU: an integrated GPU and a dedicated GPU.
You can check if your computer has multiple GPUs by opening the Device Manager and navigating to Display adapters. Your GPU or GPUs will be shown there.
To switch to a dedicated NVIDIA GPU:
Check the GPU in use for your web-browser of choice.
Using the integrated graphics card on your device can result in poor performance.
To check the graphics card in use for google chrome
From your desktop search bar, search and navigate to “NVIDIA control panel”
Navigate to 3D Settings > Manage 3D settings
From the Program Settings Tab, select your browser from the dropdown under “Select a program to customize”
Choose the “High-performance processor” option under “Select preferred graphics processor for this program” if it is not already selected
You will need to restart your browser to see the changes take effect.
Switch to a dedicated AMD GPU:
Open the AMD Radeon settings.
One way to do this is by right-clicking on an empty space on the desktop and selecting AMD Radeon settings.
Navigate to System > Switchable graphics.
Locate your browser using the search bar.
Select the browser and choose High performance from the drop-down menu. The change will take effect the next time you load the game.
Troubleshooting slow model download speeds
The most common reason a model may load slowly is due to a slow internet connection. You can check your internet speed following these instructions.
Google “internet speed test”
Click “Run Speed Test”
If your download speed is slower than 10 Mbps, your model downloads will likely be less than desirable.
