Organization Owners and Admins Overview
This feature allows you to generate a structured BOM from a STEP file and a Master Parts List.
Generate a BOM
The instructions below assume you have already processed a STEP file that includes all child parts in its structure.
Make sure it includes a row that specifies the STEP file as the service part number or engineering part number. Note: If you import a Serial Number number list that specifies the root assembly file, it will automatically generate a ‘Non Discoverable’ part for the STEP file. Return to the Zea Platform and navigate to Zea Parts. The parent assembly will now have a BOM, and each child will be a selectable, orderable part. Note: These parts will appear red in the Parts tab of Zea Parts since they are not directly mapped to CAD files.
Matching Methods
You can match STEP file parts to your Master Parts List in two supported ways:
Exact Match
If the STEP file name exactly matches the part number in your spreadsheet, enter it in the Service Part Number field. The system will automatically link the CAD file to that part.
Format Differences
If your part number format differs slightly from the STEP filename (e.g. 123.456 vs 123-456):
Enter the expected part number in Service Part Number. Enter the matching STEP file name (or version of the number used in filenames) in Engineering Part Number. The system will use the Engineering Part Number to link the model but display the Service Part Number to users.
