Overview

Use option tags to control the visibility of optional parts and subassemblies when loading a 3D model. This is useful for managing product configurations and variants.
Tags are applied and previewed when inspecting a 3D Model. When a model is loaded with tags applied, only matching optional components are displayed.
Use Cases:
In : Assign tags to serial numbers so specific configurations load automatically in the Parts Catalog (e.g., standard vs upgraded components, region-specific builds).
In : Apply tags to control how a published illustration appears, for example showing a single-seater vs double-seater version of a vehicle in a work instruction.

Note: This feature is in early preview and under active development.

Add Option Tags in 3D Models

Tag optional subassemblies or parts from within a top-level assembly.
Navigate to 3D Models.
Select the top-level assembly (e.g., the complete vehicle) and click Inspect.

In the model tree, select a subassembly or part you want to mark as optional.
In the Option Tags field in the Inspector, enter a tag name (e.g., bucket) and press Enter.
Repeat for other components using different tags (e.g., wheels).
Note: Changes are automatically applied and you do not need to save the file.

Example: Assigning the 'bucket' tag in the Inspector.
info
Note: You can apply option tags from: – The top-level assembly, by selecting parts or subassemblies in the tree. – Individual part or subassembly files, by inspecting them directly.

Test Configuration in 3D Models

Preview how optional parts behave when tags are applied.
Inspect the top-level assembly that contains the tagged subassemblies or parts.
Open the File menu and choose Edit Option Tags.
Enter one or more tags (e.g., bucket, wheels) into the dialog and click Apply.
Multiple tags can be applied to test different combinations.
The URL updates to include the applied tags, for example: ?optionTags=%5B"wheels"%5D
Parts with matching option tags will be loaded with the model. Parts with option tags that are not matched with the loading tags will not be loaded.
This change is temporary. Closing and reopening the browser tab will reset the assembly to its default state.

Only the wheels are visible — the bucket is not loaded because its tag was not included.
