Overview

Use option tags to control the visibility of optional parts and subassemblies when loading a 3D model. This is useful for managing product configurations and variants.
Tags can be applied in the 3D Models section and assigned per serial number in Parts. When a model is loaded with a set of tags, only matching optional components are displayed.
info
Note: This feature is in early preview and under active development.
In the future, option tags will allow users to predefine configurations in the Parts Catalog. For example, one serial number might include a standard part, while another references an upgraded component. This enables support for product variants, upgrade kits, or region-specific builds — specific to a given serial number.

Add Option Tags in 3D Models

Tag optional subassemblies or parts from within a top-level assembly.
Navigate to 3D Models.
Select the top-level assembly (e.g., the complete vehicle) and click Inspect.
In the model tree, select a subassembly or part you want to mark as optional.
In the Option Tags field in the Inspector, enter a tag name (e.g., bucket) and press Enter.
Repeat for other components using different tags (e.g., wheels).
Open the File menu and choose Save to apply your changes.

Example: Assigning the 'bucket' tag in the Inspector.
info
Note: You can apply option tags from: – The top-level assembly, by selecting parts or subassemblies in the tree. – Individual part or subassembly files, by inspecting them directly.

Test Configuration in 3D Models

Preview how optional parts behave when tags are applied.
Inspect the top-level assembly that contains the tagged subassemblies or parts.
Open the File menu and choose Edit Option Tags.
Enter one or more tags (e.g., bucket, wheels) into the dialog and click Apply.
Multiple tags can be applied to test different combinations.
Parts with matching option tags will be loaded with the model. Parts with option tags that are not matched with the loading tags will not be loaded.
This change is temporary. Closing and reopening the browser tab will reset the assembly to its default state.

Right: Only the wheels are visible — the bucket is not loaded because its tag was not included.

Assign Tags by Serial Number

Define which optional parts should be included for a specific serial number.
Navigate to Zea Parts.
Ensure your parts have been imported using either the or
methods.
if you haven’t already.
Select the Serial Number tab and enter the relevant tags in the Options Tags field.
These tags will automatically apply when the model is loaded for that serial number.
💡Tip: Copy the serial number now — you’ll need it later when previewing the catalog.
info
Importing: The option tags will soon be imported as part of loading serial numbers into the platform.

Example: The 'wheels' tag is assigned to serial number TRLR-23456C. This configuration will load only parts tagged 'wheels' in the catalog.

Preview Tags by Serial Number

Test how the configuration appears in the published catalog.
Click Settings in Zea Parts.
On the Publish tab, click the Preview Catalog button.
The catalog preview will open.
Select the Serial Numbers tab.
Paste the serial number you copied earlier into the search field and select it to open the assembly.
You’ll see that only the parts matching the applied tags are displayed.

Example: Searching for serial number TRLR-23456C in the catalog preview to load its configured model.

Example: The result of applying the wheels tag — only the chassis and wheels are visible; the bucket is hidden.
